Oh Concentration Profiles over Alumina, Quartz, and Platinum Surfaces Using Laser-induced Fluorescence Spectroscopy in Low-pressure Hydrogen/oxygen Flames

چکیده
Laser-induced fluorescence measurements of OH radical concentration are performed in the post-flame gaseous region of a stoichiometric H2=O2 mixture combusting at 20 Torr. The measurements are taken near surfaces of three different materials [a-alumina (Al2O3), quartz (SiO2), and platinum (Pt) on alumina] at different surface temperatures (from 700 to 1100 K). A comparative analysis of some of the factors affecting OH recombination rate are provided as a function of material and temperature. Of the samples tested, Al2O3 is observed to be the least active whereas Pt on Al2O3 is the most active, with SiO2 at an intermediate level with respect to OH recombination rate on surfaces indicating a quantitative difference between the two relatively inert materials. The result of these

Laser-induced fluorescence study of OH in flat flames of 1-10 bar compared with resonance CARS experiments.
Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) measurements of OH were performed in flat stoichiometric CH(4)/air flames burning at 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.6 bar, which had previously been investigated using OH resonance CARS. In the LIF study, line shape information and temperatures were extracted from excitation spectra; in addition, OH profiles as a function of height above the burner surface and an estimate of...
متن کاملCalibration of laser induced fluorescence of the OH radical by cavity ringdown spectroscopy in premixed atmospheric pressure flames
Cavity ringdown spectroscopy (CRDS) of the hydroxyl radical (OH) has been explored in a laminar methane-air flame at atmospheric pressure over a range of equivalence ratio. Laser induced fluorescence of OH calibrated by CRDS in a lean flame compares well to PREMIX calculations using GRI-Mech 3.0. CRDS is a highly sensitive path-integrated diagnostic technique that can yield absolute absorber nu...

Nitrogen atoms have been detected in stoichiometric flat premixed H2/O2/N2 flames at 33 and 96 mbar doped with small amounts of NH3, HCN, and (CN)2 using two-photon laser excitation at 211 nm and fluorescence detection around 870nm. The shape of the fluorescence intensity profiles versus height above the burner surface is markedly different for the different additives. Using measured quenching ...
متن کاملLaser-induced Fluorescence Measurements to Test Chemical Mechanisms of Prompt No in Methane Flames
Laser-induced fluorescence measurements have been made of the OH, CH and NO radicals in slightly rich methane/air flames burning at 30.70 and 120 Ton; in the 30 Torr flame atomic hydrogen is also measured. Absolute NO and OH concenaations were determined using separate calibration experiments. Temperature profiles were deduced from OH rotational excitation scans, and fluorescence quenching rate...
متن کاملLaser-induced fluorescence determination of temperatures in low pressure flames.
Spatially resolved temperatures in a variety of low pressure flames of hydrogen and hydrocarbons burning with oxygen and nitrous oxide are determined from OH, NH, CH, and CN laser-induced fluorescence rotational excitation spectra. Systematic errors arising from spectral bias, time delay, and temporal sampling gate of the fluorescence detector are considered. In addition, we evaluate the errors...
